Imagine if Survivor stopped pretending to be wholesome family viewing and finally admitted what it's always kind of been... people getting picked off one by one for entertainment. That's the energy here, and Amanda Leanne leans all the way in.

Five women. Ten days. Three million dollars on the line. No crew, no help, no safety net. What starts off as a glossy reality TV finale slides sideways pretty quick, and once you realize the rules everyone agreed to aren't the rules being played, the whole thing tightens like a fist.

I tore through it in basically one sitting. Beth is a great anchor. She's scrappy, mouthy, and the kind of character you actually root for instead of just watching from a distance. The pacing doesn't waste a page.

If you've ever side-eyed a reality competition and thought "there's no way the producers actually care if these people make it home," this one's for you. Just maybe don't read it right before you submit your application to be on one.

Solid pick for spooky season, a plane ride, or any night you want something that goes down quick and hits harder than you'd expect from 87 pages.

About the Author

Amanda Leanne
A reader since she was 4 and a lover of writing by early elementary school, Amanda had wrote her first story when she was 8 years old. Her initial career was in neurological and forensic psychology until her health turned for the worst, and as someone disabled and needing a new focus, she went back to writing. Living in Southern Appalachia with her son, husband, and several cats, Amanda writes stories that are dark, eerie, tragic, and often based on the darkness of her own life struggles. Disabled, LGBTQ+, from indigenous and pagan roots, Amanda is passionate about her writing and art.
