And the newly crowned Queen Leticia and her consort Kalen ascend the throne amidst the birth of twins and much sooner than they expected to. With so much stress, it's no wonder that Leticia does not seem like herself.

It would be easy enough to dismiss this as perfectly normal depression and leave it to those in the Palace to help, but as time wears on, Kalen realizes that something is very wrong with his beloved wife and so turns to William Tenys to investigate. William in turn is dealing with the strange behaviors of other women in the city, not to mention his feelings for Lady Farrin Caels, and doesn't believe that Leticia is suffering from anything worse than grief. But with the odd young women around him and the growing fear that his Queen and friend may be in more danger than she seems, William sets out to do what he never thought he would have to:
