9-1-1

This was my first book read by D.J. Maughan, and I can say, I want to read all the earlier ones.


9-1-1 was tense, short chapters, interesting, twist and turns and always something happening and I can't wait for what's next for Peter and Zsuzsa (very likeable characters).
In the beginning I was afraid I won't understand earlier stuff happening, but Maughan explains it so well I felt I didn't miss anything, he only made me want to read his earlier ones to see what happened earlier.
If you like crime thrillers with fraud, 9-1-1 is awesome and I fully recommend.

Fun and fast read. At first I was a little hesitant to read a book with 9/11 being a major part of the story line, given that I vividly remember it happening, but after being selected to read the ARC I gave it a shot.

I was pleasantly surprised, the plot was interesting and it moved quickly, I didn’t feel like the tragedy was exploited, and it had a solid ending that wrapped everything up with a mostly HEA. I figured out the twist about 3/4 on but I was still hooked enough to finish, so it earned a solid 4 stars from me.

My only real complaint is the way one of the MMCs spoke about women- “she smiled and I noticed her teeth were a little crooked so I lost interest.” “If she lost 20 lbs I’d date her.” Dude, you’re already married and have a bit on the side… don’t be such a pig.

Other than that- solid book.

Such a fantastic read. I enjoyed every minute. When Scott fakes his own death, thinking he has got away with millions, he quickly realises someone has outsmarted him. Now disappearing into a new life is no longer an option!

A perfect way to get me invested in the storyline from the outset, and I loved how the story unfolded. In the best way, with tension and twists galore!

9-1-1 by DJ Maughan is a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thriller that had me hooked from page one. Set against the backdrop of the 9/11 attacks, this novel follows Scott Lyon, a crooked businessman who sees tragedy as a chance to disappear—only to find that someone has turned the tables on him. Twists, tension, and moral complexity make this a compelling read. Highly recommended for fans of suspense and morally gray characters!

Peter and his new wife head to NYC for their honeymoon. However, it just happens to coincide with 9/11. In the aftermath, Peter is asked to help track down a businessman who had an office in the south tower.

Through a series of twists, turns, and revelations at follow along as Peter attempts to crack the case.
