The Cure That Kills
A Short Story (In the Cards)
Maura Powell is running out of options. Suffering from a debilitating neurological illness has left her desperate for answers. When her friends uncover rumors of a long-abandoned hospital tied to miraculous recoveries, Maura agrees to one last gamble: breaking into Green Plain Regional to find proof that her condition can be cured. But beneath the decay lies something still active, still watching. It is a place where medicine operates without oversight, and isolation is treated as clarity. As Maura’s friends begin to vanish, she must confront how far she’s willing to go for relief, and whether some cures demand more than anyone should be asked to give.

Another great addition to In The Cards Collection! How far will desperate go to save themselves or the ones they love or carry about? Jeremy Fowler is new to me and this is only the second short story that I have resd by them but really looking forward to reading more. Its intense and dark!

“The Cure That Kills” by Jeremy Fowler is a dark, intense addition to the In The Cards series that explores just how far desperation can push someone. It’s a great, quick read that pulls you in fast and keeps the tension high. A gripping reminder that sometimes the things we want most can come with a deadly cost.
