The Theft of Truth

Family SecretsUncovering The PastDual TimelineBased On True Family Histories
What if the inheritance stolen from your family had been hidden for two hundred years? When Maud Wright discovers a letter concealed inside an old mahogany writing case, it leads her to nineteenth-century Ireland and the story of William Irwin Keon. Convicted of stealing four pigs and transported to New South Wales, William left behind a wife, young children, and a disputed inheritance. While William fights to survive in the colony, his wife Catherine refuses to let the truth disappear. Drawing on real court records, family letters, and historical events, The Theft of Truth is a story of injustice, courage, and one family's determination to reclaim what was taken from them.

About the Author

m.c. widdowson
I’m a retired nurse, family historian and author from Merseyside. For thirty years, I have been tracing my Irish ancestors and uncovering the lives hidden behind names and dates in old records. My research led me to a forgotten murder trial involving my own family, I knew I wanted to tell the story to combine real people, court records and family history with fiction. I bring overlooked voices back to life showing how the consequences of one event can pass through generations.

The Truth of Sheemore is the first novel in my Forgotten Histories series.
