Mouse is more of a horror story to me, than a thriller.
Not because it there is a monster chasing a child. There is.
Not because there is an unsolvable evil stalking the earth. There is.
Mouse is horrific because it tells a story, that for some people, is memory. It tells the story of lack of humanity in the pursuit of happiness. It speaks of the experiences of an illegal immigrant and the conditions in which they must survive in hopes of a better life.
Think of your politics however you like, these things happen and, in this story, it is captured in a violent and torturous way that one would hope only exists in fiction.
Pick this story up, its quick, well written and will hit you where it hurts.

Mouse was an exciting short story that I could not put down and devoured in one sitting! I couldn’t wait to get to the end and it was such an astounding ending! The author did a wonderful job making a lasting impression of a story in just a few pages. Well done!

First story by DeSantiago but not my last. This is told from a very brave nine year old girl who is brave and endures a lot. It was very gripping and although short, it was fast paced and told everything a full length novel would.
