Do not trust the fae. Do not thank them. And never, ever, give them your name.

Dark creatures of folk tales and legend play a deadly game around Lily Boyd's grandmother, and Lily didn't believe any of it until the woman disappeared.

Now, with omens of death closing in, Lily's only ally is Troy: a Kelpie, an Unseelie Trickster, and the last fae she should ever trust. He saved her life. He knows her true name. And his reasons for helping her are anything but clear.

To find her grandmother, Lily must navigate the treacherous politics of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, a world of binding bargains, ancient folklore, and rules that can kill if you misread them. She'll have to decide which side to trust, which side to trick, and whether Troy is the one fae worth believing in.

One wrong word will cost her grandmother's life. One misplaced trust will cost her soul.

For readers of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series and C.N. Crawford: atmospheric Celtic fae mythology, slow-burn tension, and a dangerous male lead who is never quite what he seems.

Inside Story

This is book one of the Courts of the Wild Fae series. It’s a dark Fae fantasy. Great character development. Twists and unexpected turns keep you reading. The world building is detailed and imaginative. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

About the Author

Veronica Chastain
Once upon a time, in the same green mountains and enchanting forests she loves writing about, Veronica Chastain was born to a line of Celt witches (who would rather prefer the term “meiga,” thank you very much).

Years of legal corporate work taught Veronica to mind her words and hunt for loopholes, and this, together with traditional knowledge about the Fair Folk, shaped her into a fae-tricking trickster who loves sharing their ancient myths and legends, with a healthy dose of romance, mystery, and otherworldly adventure.
