This book had a really good retelling of the old fairy tales we grew up with. I enjoyed seeing how the author took each one on a different Journey from what we know from our original books. It was a lot of fun to read.

Really well written I enjoyed the last four retelling of classic fairy tales. Really creative and original twists and turns.

I enjoy dark books. Like pitch black romance is my jam. I was excited for this book with dark re-tellings, re-imagining of fairy tales.
The first 2 books with Cinderella and Anastasia were fantastic! I loved the dark twists with the oldest profession giving a unique spin on a timeless classic. Very well done.
The story of Hontas lost me a little. I couldn't keep up with the back and forth. It had a good premise in theory, but the main character was all over the place. She went from determined and strong-willed to purposeful brat to oh well let's just cut our losses.
The sci-fi Hansel and Greyel was intriguing but was way too long. It could have been 30 minutes shorter and still gotten its point across.
I couldn't get into Samauri Snow White at all. It just didn't hold my interest. Once again, way too long. It needed to be 30-40 minutes shorter.
The last story of Red Riding Hood was top tier! Very well done. I loved the background of tying her struggles and journey into a World War 2 setting. The way the wolf and the Huntsman were incorporated was perfection. This one delivered on all cylinders.
All in all, I gave it 3.5/5 stars. Some of the stories lost me when the writing dragged on or took a turn to purposefully make the story go darker or more horrific than it needed to be. You can make your point in shorter chapters. Also don't change the style or pace of the chapter. I seriously thought that Hontas' story was unnecessarily more gory than it needed to be- the mutilation did nothing for the story. It would have been fine and made the same point without it.
If this series continues please don't do shock and bloody awe just for the sake of gore. You are a talented writer and can make the point without it.

This is volume one of the author’s reimagining of classic fairy tales. This is great! Fairy tales mixed with historical elements. Assassins, Samurais, the wild west, aliens, and Nazis. The plots draw you in so that you can’t put the book down because you need to know what will happen next. This review is based on an early review copy I was sent by the publisher, but this didn't affect the content of my review that I am voluntarily providing.

3.5⭐️ this was very different…I loved some, I hated some. I loved the retelling of these fairytales in this dark manner. That was cool. It had spice and action. Chaos and danger. Some were too long, had they been shorter they would’ve been a lot better. Others I wish were longer just because they were that good. Overall, this was a good read and I’m glad I got the opportunity to read it.

Very different take on fairy tales but very good. Just know that it has some disturbing points but I loved it!

I start this book early this morning, it has a few fairytales that have been rewritten in to a twisted and dark version of the stories.
Where I found it a great read for these version of these stories, the only think that got me was the writting of the spicy scenes. The wording in those scenes were just a little blend.
Please please check your trigger warnings and there is a whole lot in this book.
