The Profiler’s Dilemma: Unmasking a Psychopath in a Race Against Time

Clara Strong is a Special FBI Field Agent from Durant Oklahoma, and she has just saved teenager Emily from a sadistic man who has already taken one life. During the investigation she breaks protocols and is summoned to Assistant Director Miller's office, where she finds herself suspended. Drinking at Frank's bar, who is her best friend, she becomes intoxicated and is attacked by two men as she walks back to her apartment. As Frank nurses Clara she gets a call from the director to return back to the office immediately. Fighting the alcohol in her system she is sent to Butler, a small town in Alabama to assist Sheriff Harris and his team in a complex murder. Also joining her is Special Agent in Charge Adam Perez from the Behavioural Analysis Unit in Quantico.

Can't believe this is Welz Bailey's first book. Exception storyline about an FBI agent's talent to solve a crime whilst having personal problems.

The Pawn is a gripping police procedural with a dark psychological edge. FBI Special Agent Clara Strong is a fierce, flawed heroine with a haunting past that adds real weight to the story. She’s investigating a chilling serial killer in her hometown, but a tragedy from her childhood torments her as she investigates. Dark, twisty, and utterly gripping!

Holy smokes! This one kept me guessing the entire time!

The Pawn is the perfect title for this psychological thriller with a mix of police procedural. Every time I thought I had who the villain was figured out Welz Bailey - Author threw another curve ball.

Definitely a five star read and I highly recommend that you read it! It is also one of the top 32 in the Thrills and Chills Melee, and after reading it, I can see why!

Welz Bailey will have you on the edge of your seat in this cat and mouse game with a poor lost soul and an alcoholic FBI agent whose childhood was also not the best. This was my first novel by this author and I will be continuing the agent Clara series!!!!
