The story follows Chris and his two daughters on a camping trip meant to heal old wounds after the loss of their wife and mother. When a snowstorm hits, a serious injury forces them to seek shelter at a remote farmstead. What starts as a desperate fight against the elements quickly turns into something far more sinister when Emma vanishes overnight.
The snowy, isolated setting created plenty of tension, and I found myself wanting to know what was really going on. The mystery was intriguing, and the short chapters helped keep the story moving at a brisk pace.
That said, some of the twists felt predictable, and I struggled to connect with a few of the characters. There were moments that required a bit of suspension of disbelief, which pulled me out of the story at times. While the premise was strong, I wanted more depth and emotional impact from both the family dynamics and the suspense elements.
Overall, this was an entertaining thriller with a chilling atmosphere and enough suspense to keep me engaged, but it wasn’t quite as memorable as I’d hoped. If you enjoy isolated settings, family-centered suspense, and quick reads, this one may be worth picking up. 📚❄️🏔️
