This one completely sucked me in and kept me turning pages way later than I intended.
I love a dark romance that gives me messy characters, questionable decisions, and relationships that make me constantly wonder how far they’ll go for each other, and Freedom Day definitely delivered. The connection between Kayla and Ethan was intense from the start, and I loved that once the truth started coming out, Ethan didn’t back down. If anything, he doubled down, which made their dynamic even more addictive to read.
The suspense kept things moving, and I never felt like I knew exactly where the story was headed. Every time I thought I had things figured out, another secret or twist popped up to keep me hooked.
I also really enjoyed the small-town setting. It gave the story a different feel from a lot of dark romances, especially with the holiday backdrop adding a contrast to everything unfolding behind the scenes.
There were a few places where I would have loved a little more detail, but honestly, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. The chemistry was there, the tension was there, and the ending felt perfect for these characters.
If you love dark romance with secrets, obsession, morally gray moments, and a couple willing to go to extreme lengths for each other, this is one I’d definitely recommend.
