This was a fast, drama-packed read with a great setup, but it didn’t fully deliver on its promise for me.
The cruise setting was fun and claustrophobic in the best way, and the premise — a marriage on the brink + a mysterious third woman — immediately hooked me. Paula’s anxiety felt believable at first, and the slow drip of “is this paranoia or something darker?” kept me turning pages.
That said, the execution felt a bit uneven. Some of the sabotage moments were more frustrating than suspenseful, and I found myself wanting deeper character development, especially when it came to motivations. The tension was there, but it didn’t always escalate as sharply as I expected, and a few twists felt predictable rather than shocking.
Overall, it’s an entertaining psychological thriller with a solid concept and quick pacing, but it didn’t quite reach the emotional or psychological depth needed to make it stand out. Worth the read if you enjoy marital suspense and vacation-gone-wrong stories — just don’t expect it to completely rock you.
