Whoa! I. Have. So. Much. Fun reading this book!!! I think Maggie’s sudden disappearance at the very beginning is such a strong hook that instantly pulls me in. Aside from the little mystery you can catch at first glance, I also get some good laughs from Katelynn and Grant’s silly investigation and funny daily work interactions that follow, which only builds more excitement in me on what comes next. And then, of course… the fluttery workplace romance melts me away to the point I can’t stop saying “awww.”
This is a typical happy-ending story of Katelynn and Colin, an ordinary working girl and a rich CEO’s son. The ending doesn’t really surprise me because of its predictability, but the real surprises are spread throughout the story, long before you even reach that expected ending. They live in the relationship growth, the misunderstandings, the hidden caution slipping into Katelynn and Colin’s love, all their meaningful romantic moments together, and so much more. They live in Colin’s words, the kind that lift you up… even when you’re not Katelynn hahaha.
“You make me feel… free. I’m not sure you can understand what I mean. I usually have to portray myself in a certain way to protect the Gordon name. With you, I can’t even recall my name. I can be anyone when I’m with you.”
Colin has too many romantic and convincing lines which I find so optimistic, visionary, and soothing to Kate’s insecurities. Here’s another favorite of mine, from her question about how a rich VP and an ordinary worker get along, and even manage to be in a relationship:
“They bring out qualities in the other that may be hidden or repressed. They infuse excitement and knowledge into each other. They open each other up to explore and create new ways of living.”
So, thinking about seeing butterflies in your stomach, overflowing love, a touch of mystery, and an office dynamic? Then this book is absolutely your kind of read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
