The absolute BEST thing you can do for authors is to shout about their books! This was My first ARC. I told Jessica I wast very good at reviews. I loved this book just as much as the first one. Looking forward to reading more of your books.

Jessica, ma'am you truly have outdone yourself with this one. You have a way to get into the reader's mind to mess it up. This is nothing like I've ever read before. I felt like a crazy person. My brain was puzzled, confused, spinning and spiraling trying to figure out what was going on, who to believe. I felt beside myself trying to get a grip on reality.

A story with multiple points of views leading you down a road of heartbreak, love, crime and betrayal. Their personalities shine through as they each tell their part. There are some characters I loved, some I hated, and others I had mixed feelings for. The storyline is well planned out, very meticulously and fast paced. This is a whodunnit like no other.

Okay but can we talk about how unhinged (in the best way) this case was?!

This second installment in the Detective Caleb Reed series absolutely delivered. Even though it’s part of a series, it totally works as a standalone — but wow, it definitely made me want to go back and reread everything about Caleb.

A missing four-year-old.
A mother who says she vanished last night.
A father who insists she died months ago in a car accident.

WHAT?!

From the very first chapter, the contradictions had me hooked. The back-and-forth lies, the tension between the parents, the slow unraveling of what actually happened — it was messy, emotional, and completely gripping. I loved how the story kept me questioning everything. Just when I thought I had it figured out… nope.

Detective Caleb Reed continues to be such a compelling main character. His inner commentary? Sharp. Frustrated. Slightly chaotic. Very relatable. You can feel the weight he carries into each case, and it adds so much depth to the investigation. He’s not just solving a mystery — he’s wrestling with it.

The multiple first-person POVs worked so well here. They added layers without giving too much away, and the tension built steadily all the way to the end. It’s not overly graphic (even with some past-reflection child abuse themes), and the focus stays on the psychological twists rather than shock value.

No spice.
Mild profanity.
Middle-aged main characters.
Pure psychological chaos.

This one was bizarre, twisty, and emotionally charged in all the right ways. If you love messy truths, unreliable narratives, and detective stories that make you question everyone — add this to your list immediately.

Caleb Reed does not get paid enough for this level of dysfunction… and honestly? Neither did my nerves.

An amazing read that I finished in one day! The writing was fast paced and drew me in immediately. The plot was great and the characters were developed really well. I enjoyed how the main characters evolved throughout the book. The book is written from different points of view and switches by chapter which gives the reader a chance to see inside different characters’ minds which I really enjoy. I thought I knew where the plot was going, but I was not even close! This was a fantastic read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I jumped right into Detective Caleb Reed series book 2, after reading book one and so glad I did. I enjoyed it so much more. Very interesting story, good twist, and that ending...I can't wait to see what's in store for the next continuation.
