This was absolutely vicious in the best way. The whole book feels like standing too close to a live wire — dangerous, addictive, and impossible to look away from. The rodeo setting already carries this built-in violence, but the author twists it into something far darker: fame as consumption, love as performance, and pain as entertainment. Every scene felt sharp enough to bruise.

Silas and Lane were magnetic together. Silas carrying all that damage and restraint while Lane burns himself alive just to be witnessed? Brutal. Their relationship never feels soft or safe, and that’s exactly why it works. The intimacy in this story is tangled up with control, devotion, survival, and self-destruction in a way that made it impossible to stop reading.

What really got me was the atmosphere. The cameras, the crowd, the manufactured spectacle of it all — it creates this suffocating sense that nobody is allowed to be human anymore. Mercy Management honestly felt more horrifying than anything supernatural could’ve been. Every injury, every glance, every moment of affection becomes something marketable, and the book never lets you forget it.

The writing itself is gorgeous in that bleak, gothic way where even the tenderness feels doomed. There’s such a heavy sense of inevitability hanging over the story that every eight-second ride feels like a countdown to catastrophe.

Dark, haunting, intimate, and genuinely unsettling. This wasn’t just a romance or a horror story — it felt like an autopsy of what audiences do to people they claim to love. Easy 5 stars.
