This thriller was a page turner and very addictive. Detectives Jenkins and Barrientos are hunting a kingpin who may not even exist. The call him the Wolf . They received a tip from an informant telling them about drug shipment for Wolf. He was killed shortly after giving them the info.

Another fast-paced and action-packed book from J.B. Arnold! This story is told across two timelines, with the present primarily following Detective Jenkins and the past focusing on Dao, a young girl forced to endure an unimaginable life. Because of the human trafficking involving children, some of the content gets quite dark.

This is the second book in the Detective Jenkins series. While it is not necessary to have read the first book, I would recommend it so you have more background on the relationship between the partners. Detective Barrientos has a no-nonsense attitude, and it is very enjoyable to watch Jenkins navigate their interactions. While I really liked The Hand of God, I enjoyed this book even more.

There was a teaser for the third book in the series at the end, which I skipped because I knew it would just make me want more! However, the fact that it was included is great news and hopefully means the wait for the next book will not be too long. I cannot wait for the next book to be released!

Twists, Turns and intrigue. Great character development. A great crime thriller that keeps the pages turning! After children are found instead of drugs, the plot thickens and intensifies!

As an avid thriller reader, I love when a book hooks you from the very beginning and keeps you turning the pages…and this one definitely delivers. The storytelling is on point, and while it gets a little dark, there are little moments of joy sprinkled throughout that give the story some balance.

It’s suspenseful, packed with twists and turns, and keeps the story moving. It was genuinely a joy to read and definitely did not disappoint.

And although I’m not going to say too much and risk giving anything away… I am a fan of Detective Jenkins, so I’ll absolutely be waiting for that third book. 👀

This is the second book in the series that follows Detectives Jenkins and Barrientos. The action starts out quick and continues throughout the book with sentimental and touching parts mixed in as well. The story follows the detectives as they work to shut down a trafficking ring that escalated from a drug ring to a murder, to child trafficking where the king pin has been untouchable. The story kept me reading and I couldn't read it quick enough to find out what happened next.

I love seeing the progression of the character development in this book and look forward to more books in this series.

I loved the first book in this series, so I jumped at the chance to be an ARC reader for this one, and it did not disappoint. I'm a sucker for a good detective story, and this one delivers — Jenkins and Barrientos have great chemistry and their banter keeps things from getting too heavy.

I grew up watching mobster movies, and the heartless, calculated mindset of the villain really hit true for me. That cold, methodical menace felt genuinely authentic.

What really got me was the parallel storyline with the trafficking survivor. Watching her past and the present-day investigation unfold side by side, and slowly connect, added way more heart than I expected going in.

Solid, gripping thriller with more depth than most in this genre. Highly recommend if you loved book one or just love a good dark detective story.

Another great book by JB Arnold! I am in love with this series. I was a little hesitant about the topic, but it was handled beautifully. I willingly admit that I am attached to these characters! I can't wait for the next one!

The hunt is on and the obession heightens. Will Jenkins and Barrientos find The Wolf or will The Wolf find them?

I don't know where to begin, J.B Arnold did it again! From start to finish this book kept you on your toes, your mind racing with questions and suspense, as the plot intensifies and thickens! The character development  intertwined with the past and present timeline brought so much depth and understanding to how it all tied in to tracking "The Wolf." This series keeps getting better and better with flawless consistency, impeccable imagery as the world of Jenkins and Barrientos expands. My two favorite detectives showing dedication, resilience, determination and not one fearless bone in their bodies. You'll be brought on a ride that'll have you teetering on the edge of your seat. The emotions you feel will grip you like glue and reel you in quickly, through the the non-stop true crime action.

The Wolf Behind the Veil is a dark, gripping thriller that steadily tightens its hold. The mystery is compelling, the character development is fantastic, and the tension keeps building. The deeper the investigation goes, the more unsettling things become. A sinister, twisty read that gets darker the further you go.

Thanks J. B. Arnold for the ARC of this book. I loved this book. All the background story neatly wrapped up at the end. Marvelous! The content of this book angers me so much. If you’ve not read J. B. Arnold before your missing out. I loved both of my previous books by him- Exit 202 and The hand of God.

The Wolf Behind the Veil is the second book of the Jenkins series and it is better than the first. So dark, thrilling, turn paging, need to know what happens. A ruthless Kingpin named The Wolf is going to break your heart with his human trafficking (mainly children). J.B. even gives a sneak peak into book three and has become one of my favorote authors with his creative writing.

This was such an enjoyable read! I don’t typically read detective/cop books, but I really enjoyed this one. The story kept me interested, and I liked how everything came together. My only struggle was the timeline—the flashes back and forth made it a little difficult to keep track of exactly when things were happening at times. Once I got my bearings, though, I was hooked!

Overall, a great read for fans of the detective/cop genre, and definitely worth picking up if that’s your style!
