Horrible Husbands by Jessica Huntley is an addictive, gripping and heart-pounding psychological thriller that will make you guess all the way through, rewarding with a jaw-dropping twist!
This goes straight to my 6-star shelf!
I loved the emotions. I loved the touch of reality. I loved how the story turned into the madhouse! I loved everything about this book!
Penny, Holly, and Lisa have been best friends since childhood and even though they went to different universities and live in different parts of the UK, they will never miss the chance to chat daily. Each of them experiences challenges and difficulties that they are not ready to share. When Penny arranges the long weekend, things take an unexpected turn and nothing will be like before.
It was easy to follow as the story was presented in the present, told from the perspectives of all three main characters. Flashbacks were relevant to understanding emotional attachment and could be eye-opening for someone who goes through a similar situation and is confused.

3 best friends hate their lives with their husbands fir one reason or another and after they get together having not seen each other for 18 years decide to come up with a plan to kill their husbands. A great story with a superb ending
Must check out more of Jessica’s work. I also loved the touch at the end with the glossary of English usage for US readers - well done

Horrible Husbands was an absolute thrill! Jessica is an author that I never even look at what the book is about. I just read it. I always trust I'm going to love what she wrote.
This book takes you on a wild, twist-filled ride from the get-go. Jessica's knack for blending heart-pounding suspense with deep, emotional moments is truly phenomenal. I couldn't put it down and found myself staying up late, eagerly pushing the button on my page turner.
Jessica dives into the tangled lives of three lifelong friends—Penny, Holly, and Lisa. During a weekend visit, they unveil dark secrets about their marriages and consider taking actions against their husbands.
Told from multiple perspectives, this psychological thriller captures themes of female friendship, empowerment, and resilience. While the plot tackles serious issues like domestic abuse and betrayal, Jessica weaves in elements of dark humor, adding layers of depth to the characters and their relationships.
Jessica has nailed it once more.
That freaking ending!! Fantastic! If you're looking for a book that's both engaging and edge-of-your-seat thrilling, Horrible Husbands is a must-read. Highly recommend!

These three women have the absolute worst luck I've ever seen; coincidental worst luck. One married a thief and a cheater, one married an abuser, and one married a seeming pedo. And the coincidences continue as we check all the boxes: super coincidental accidental death/murder life insurance update, exceedingly shady behaviour out of the blue, and loads of amateur sleuthing that would never fly in today's day and age.
The story itself was really slow. It felt like a lot of repetitive scenes and information, and as soon as I would start getting into the action then everything would go cold again. It made my reading experience drag a bit and made it hard for me to get into a book that was already a bit of a challenge fot me to enjoy.
And that twist.....eh. The story would've been better without it. It tried to do too much and I'd have been happier with leaving it as three friends who love each other and only want the best so they each help the others get out of bad situations. I didn't need all the double (triple?) crossing and the drama; it just tied everything into unnecessary knots.
Horrible Husbands didn't really do it for me. Really cool premise but the execution wasn't there. If you like your thrillers quick and a bit on the predictable side, this one will go a lot better for you than it did for me.

What an incredibly addictive read this one is.
An enticing slow build up to an exciting, tense thrilling and quite an unexpected ending.
Jessica certainly is a brilliant writer of psychological thrillers, and this is no exception, truly amazing.
I absolutely love all her books.
Three women and the very best of friends, they are married and live miles apart, so they don't meet up much, but are in regular contact with each other through social media.
Penny, her husband, has cheated on her, and she makes another devastating discovery and fears for her children's safety.
Lisa, her husband, abuses her physically and is always deeply sorry until the next time.
Holly, her husband is a lazy layabout who steals and spends her money, and she finds out he may have done something far more sinister.
They all have horrible husbands
Penny decides it's time for a girly weekend at her beautiful luxury country home, as the drinks flow sitting in Penny's office pod by the pool, the girls tonuges losen up from having a few too many, and the secrets they have kept are being revealed.
Penny comes up with an idea of how to rid themselves of their nightmare husbands.
Decision made and plans drawn up and set in motion, but things don't quite go as planned.
Can the three of them figure a way of getting the job done without getting caught and with their lives safely intact.
This is an incredibly well plotted and written thriller that had me wanting to keep reading with the tantalising slow build-up with the feeling of the intensity and suspense to come,
and when that intensity came, it came in a totally unexpected way.
This book is so good, I was completely hooked.
