Orphanage by the Lake had an intriguing premise with eerie, mysterious undertones that immediately caught my attention. The story itself was well-written and had strong potential, but I found it somewhat predictable as the plot unfolded. Hazel, our main character, didn’t quite fit the image of a private investigator for me—she felt more timid and out of place in the role, which made it harder to connect with her.

That said, the atmosphere was dark and haunting, and there were moments that kept me curious about what was really going on at the orphanage. Definitely make sure to check trigger warnings before diving into this one. Overall, it was a decent read that just didn’t fully deliver on what I was hoping for.
