Such a powerful book with breathtaking poems on love, heartbreak, sorrow, and mental illness. Each poem has a persona, and you can tell how good the author really is at creating different personas and spirits in her word choices. All her poems are given female personas, and there lays the power of this book.
The imagery of various types of love has amazed me to the bone. This book is inviting enough for me to absorb various emotions and depictions of love, but for now, it's hard to say my 5 star doesn't go to this well written anthology. Some poems in this book don't speak to the depth of my soul, while some others do.
I like the blunt and honesty in the poems, as well as the sarcastic personas in it. Along with all the things I like about this book, the sorrowful mood wrapped in anger is also highlightable to me, as they present a combination of vulnerability and aray of resilience.
So far, my favorite poems are "Dawn", "I Had A Love", "Mother", and "My Baby". My favorite quotes are also free to check out in my notes and highlights.
