I was a reader years ago and primarily stuck with historical fiction (big Phillipa Gregory fan) and John Grisham novels. Then I read only non-fiction for years. When I hit midlife I realized how much I was missing fiction and picked up ACOTAR. The rest is pretty much history. Now I'm reading mostly romantasy buy definitely am not limited to that. I am interested in all good stories. Dark, sweet, emotionally damaging, heartwarming.. just no horror or dry works (completely void of any emotion triggering).

I had high hope for this book but maybe its a genre I just can't get in to.
It was difficult to get to know the characters. I was expecting a more "shocking" read.
The writing style is very different. I found it easy to read despite not feeling the pull to know what happens next.
