Author Website Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to the Author Website feature offered by Inside Story. They sit alongside our main Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. By activating a website, you agree to everything below. If you connect a custom domain (registered through Inside Story or externally), the Domain Terms & Conditions also apply.

1. Your Author Website

Starter and Pro Inside Story author accounts include a free author website for each pen name, hosted at a subdomain we provide (e.g. author.insidestory.app/yourname). This website is active for as long as your Inside Story account is in good standing.

We reserve the right to update templates, features, and the hosting infrastructure at any time. We'll do our best to give reasonable notice of any changes that materially affect your site's appearance.

2. Custom Domain Add-on

The Custom Domain Add-on is an optional paid feature that lets you point your own domain name (e.g. www.yourname.com) to your Inside Story author website. It is billed monthly or annually on top of any other subscription.

While an Inside Story account is required for the Custom Domain Add-on, this does not have to be a paid Inside Story subscription.

The add-on also unlocks additional design features: logo upload, custom favicon, brand color controls, and access to all published templates.

When you purchase a domain through Inside Story as part of this add-on, the cost of that registration is included in your subscription — you will not be charged separately for it.

All domain registration, ownership, renewal, transfer, and liability matters are covered by the Domain Terms & Conditions.

3. Keeping Your Site Active

Your author website remains active for as long as:

• Your Inside Story account is active and in good standing; and
• Your Inside Story subscription is paid and current; or
• Where you have a custom domain: your Custom Domain Add-on subscription is paid and current.

If your subscription lapses, your author website will be deactivated. If your Custom Domain Add-on lapses, your custom domain will stop pointing to your site — though your free subdomain at author.insidestory.app/yourname will remain active while your base subscription continues.

4. Cancellation

When you cancel the Custom Domain Add-on or your Inside Story subscription, your website will remain active until the end of the current billing period. After that it will be deactivated.

If you have a custom domain registered through Inside Story, please read the Domain Terms for what happens to your domain on cancellation.

5. No Refunds

All payments for the Custom Domain Add-on subscription are non-refundable, including any unused portion of a billing period remaining after cancellation.

6. Content & Acceptable Use

You are solely responsible for the content published on your author website. Your website must comply with our main Terms & Conditions and all applicable laws. We may deactivate any website that violates these terms without prior notice.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes by email or by a notice within your Inside Story dashboard. Continued use of the author website or Custom Domain Add-on after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
